Waitomo Glowworm Cave and Ruakuri Twin Cave Experience (incl. Cafe Style Lunch)

The Bombay Hills are a range of hills to the south of Auckland, New Zealand. Though only a small and seemingly insignificant range of hills, they lie at the southern boundary of the Auckland region, and serve as a divide between Auckland and the Waikato region. directly named after the ship Bombay, The ship itself was named after the Indian city of Bombay (now Mumbai). Bombay Means: a breed of black short-haired medium-sized cat.
We stop to get some great coffee at your own expense and a comfort break before we continue our journey into the Waikato region.
Te Awamutu
Te Awamutu calls itself the ‘Rose Capital of New Zealand’. During the blooming season, November to April, the garden next to the visitor centre is a technicolour dream as 2000 rose bushes turn on the charm.
Ruakuri Cave
Discover a captivating blend of Waitomo's most compelling subterranean experiences in Ruakuri Cave on NZ’s longest underground walking tour and an experience that must be seen to be believed. Get up-close to the glow-worms in this solar powered cave. Journey down through the spectacular spiral entrance, and marvel at the softly folding shawl-like limestone formations and crystal tapestries. Waitomo Glowworm Caves
Travel in style from Auckland to this amazing destination located in the King Country of the Waikato, which takes about 3 hours when driving south from Auckland. Be amazed by thousands of magical glowworms above as you glide silently by boat in the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. The enchanting Waitomo Caves have been attracting visitors for more than 120 years, thanks to their incredible limestone formations and luminescent glowworms. Ride a boat beneath thousands of tiny glow-worms inhabit the cave and put on a mesmerising light display likened to the twinkling night sky.
Day 2
Rotorua City Highlights & Hobbiton Movie Set Tour (Incl. Buffet Lunch at Party Marquee)
This day we start our morning exploring the geothermal city highlights by visiting the stunning locations in the heart of Rotorua. Explore historic gardens that surround a Tudor-style spa bath house and an ornate Mediterranean-style public swimming pool. Peer through the steam into ancient bubbling geothermal pools.
Hobbiton Movie Set
Experience the world famous Hobbiton Movie Set where you'll see the intricately created 'Hobbit holes', the Green Dragon Inn, the Party Tree and so much more cinematic magic! Immerse yourself in the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of the Shire as featured in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies followed by a delicious buffet lunch served inside the festive Party Marquee. Your meal is served in a buffet style from a specially themed table, bursting with hobbit fare, with shared table seating to dine family style with your group.
Auckland Central
After an exhilarating fun-filled adventure experience at Rotorua, it is now time to head back to Auckland to conclude your evening and drop-off at your hotel in Auckland. We can also drop you at your accommodation in Rotorua if you are staying locally in the region.
